3 Methods on Cataloguing

It was a coincidence that the book cover on my desk appeared to be a basin, as I was browsing on the website. I made a quick decision by picking this set basin models from 3dsky.
First thing I did was to list down all the information shown on the individual page of each model. During the process, I used different color to show the level of importance of the information from my own perspective.
1 On dimensions / Method: Sequencing
I tried to make a graph by sorting the shape and dimension, so each model can easily be located in such a system. To make a sequence, I had to unify the measurement units and make certain kind of rules. ( For example, 1 unit equals to 1 mm in physical dimension) If to keep on doing this method, more rules and frames should be created to make the graph more clear and accurate.
2 On naming / Method: Captioning (Click HERE to see the whole PDF file)
In this experiment, I focused on the names of the models. By breaking the names down and labeling each part with a specific color that suggests certain meaning, I can see how the names are structured and created.

3 On design style / Method:(Re)contextualizing
On the individual page of each basin model, I noticed that most of the basins were labeled with ‘Modern’ as to suggest the design style. It could be interesting to change the context into a real life scene to judge the design of basins. So here I imagined myself to be a very pick person(creating a character), who makes comments on each basin, judging the looks and design styles. It‘s a playful approach and there are several ways to develop this method, which I would really love to go on with.
